There is no denying the immense challenges and changes that have come in the past year with the rise of a global pandemic. COVID-19 has forever changed the landscape of senior living as well. As a premier senior living provider, we put the health and safety of our residents and associates first. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we proactively implemented additional protocols and precautionary measures for the protection of our residents and associates. Those include but are not limited to the following:

  • We are modifying or adjusting dining service as appropriate.
  • We are regularly monitoring the health of our residents and associates.
  • We are encouraging and supporting our associates to remain home when any symptoms are experienced. 
  • We are maintaining regular communication with residents, families, and associates, including ongoing education and resources.
  • We have partnered with Clinical Reference Laboratory to offer rapid result, saliva-based COVID-19 tests for future residents.
  • We have proactively ensured our senior living communities are prepared with partnerships in place to provide the COVID-19 vaccine and subsequent booster shots, on site for our residents and associates. While each state retains discretion for distribution, we are pleased with the prioritization of senior living as a protective measure for all of those we have the honor to serve.

Our Mission is PEOPLE

Our mission at Grace Management, Inc. is and has always been about people. They are at the core of what we do and why we do what we do each and every day. We are fortunate to have many associates who have been with Grace Management for decades, including our Senior Vice President of Administration Jody Boedigheimer who has been with the company since its inception in 1984.

Jody recalls clearly how the PEOPLE mission and Living Gracefully philosophy came about organically from discussions with senior leaders in the company at the time. They decided since the people who live and work at our communities were the heart of Grace Management. They came up with the PEOPLE acronym and the idea of Living Gracefully. The PEOPLE acronym stands for:

Grace Management, Inc. was founded in 1984 by Eugene W. (Gene) and Mari Jo Grace. Gene and Mari Jo were consulting on the food service program of a senior housing development in Houston, Texas prior to formally creating Grace Management, Inc. The consulting job soon became a contract for full management services for two new communities to be built in Houston, Jody recalled.

In late 1987 Gene & Mari Jo were introduced to the owner of several communities in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota and Denver, Colorado, that blossomed into a management deal for five communities. As part of this, the couple agreed to relocate to Minnesota where today the GMI Home Office remains. Being the adventurous type, the two launched a nationwide company that became Grace Management.

Jody continued, that in the beginning and for years to come the company operated as a third-party fee manager, developing an impeccable reputation as a premiere turnaround specialist. As this developed, it usually meant the company averaged 25-30 communities’ management contracts at any given time. The longest management contract was 21 years. But it also meant that Grace Management has been involved in more than 200 communities across the U.S. making it a company with extensive expertise in the senior housing management sector and having an invaluable place in the senior living industry.

In 2014, Gene and Mari Jo sold the company to CPF Living, a subsidiary of Chicago Pacific Founders, a Chicago and San Francisco-based healthcare private equity investment firm. The fund is targets investments in healthcare verticals including senior living and innovative healthcare service-based platforms. Today, Grace Management, Inc. manages more than 65 communities.
