How does the cost of senior living compare to remaining at home?

Maybe you’re not sure right now. And wherever you call home, costs add up. To look at how senior living stacks up to living elsewhere, we start by totaling all your separate current living expenses and compare that number to the total cost of living at one of our communities. You may find that senior living is more cost effective than you thought. And with our Senior Living Cost Comparison Guide, you can see how your individual journey may lead you to a senior living community.

We look at three main categories of life and break those down to see how your current monthly costs compare to your monthly costs at one of our communities.

We look at Housing Expenses, things like monthly mortgage or rent, utilities, maintenance and repairs, property taxes and more.

Then we look at Living Expenses, things like meals, housekeeping, laundry, health programs, transportation, and more.

Lastly, we look at Entertainment, things like going out and attending events or activities, recreational hobbies, and activities, and more.

Say Hello to Our Hydration Stations!

As temperatures climb and summer heats up across the country, our communities are taking proactive, healthy measures to ensure residents are keeping hydrated.

We all know how vital hydration is, but it is especially important to keep on top of it for seniors. As we age, our sense of thirst significantly diminishes and older loved ones have the added risk of mental confusion, according to this Aegis Living article.

That’s why our communities ensure there is always someone watching out for residents and ensuring there is an inviting oasis for staying hydrated at our Hydration Stations.

Each community has their own unique approach to ensuring there is always a variety of beverages available at all times. This can include anything from always having fresh hot coffee, both regular and decaf, with stocked supplies of creamers, stir sticks, lids, cups, napkins, sugars, etc. Visually appealing water dispensers or stocked, easily accessible coolers with water bottles at the ready in common areas of the communities. Often, you can find other drinks like soda, juices, and milk readily available, in individual containers in
coolers — always cold and easily accessible to all.

Along with beverages, our communities ensure there are single serve healthy snacks that help hydrate and satisfy. Associates will create carts to hand out cool treats, beverages, and even items like smoothies to meet residents where they are in their rooms, hallways, or common areas. Happy Hour is a great time for many residents to socialize and sip on alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Remember, June 23 is National Hydration Day and staying cool and hydrated is important to us for supporting our residents in living healthy and enjoying life!

In celebration of Independence Day on July 4th, we know that independence is an important part of our culture and society as well as our company.

We celebrate and honor the independence our residents enjoy while making their home with us. We observe and appreciate those who have fought for our freedom and recognize the many who have been affected.

We’ve talked about how Independent Living at our communities is GREAT. A unique part of Grace Management, Inc. is how we support each of our unique communities across this great country. Sensight Survey Resident Satisfaction Five Star Award Winning Communities

We are proud to announce twelve of our senior living communities received the Sensight Survey Resident Satisfaction Five Star Award in 2022.

The Resident Satisfaction Five Star Award is presented to senior living communities who attain an overall resident satisfaction score of 85% or higher and a minimum 50% participation rate. Overall resident satisfaction is measured as the percentage of residents who Strongly Agree or Agree that they are very satisfied with their senior living community as a place to live, would gladly recommend their community as a place to live, and rarely think of leaving their community to live elsewhere.

Men’s Health Matters to Us!

June 15th 2022

June is Men’s Health month. Our communities provide whole-body wellness options for improving all aspects of health and supporting healthy living for our residents. At our community The Landon at Lake Highlands, a group called the League of Men, provides meaningful connections and great events and activities to support men and their mental, physical, social, and emotional health.

The group formed in 2021 with about 10-15 members. Today, it has flourished to 23 to 25 active members who do anything from build birdhouses and enjoy meal outings together to scotch tasting events and speakers to talk about whatever interests are piqued by the group. The group gets to choose what they are doing each month and the events or activities are hosted by different male associates at the community.

The League of Men has helped newcomers and established residents whose interests lie outside of arts, crafts, and games to find an alternative way to connect with their neighbors. The men in the group include married and widowed gentlemen who enjoy the camaraderie and activity the League brings to their lives. Recently, some of the League members have begun finding fitness that they enjoy, working out or exercising, together. Speakers for events have run the gamut and included discussion of healthy lifestyles and support like physical therapy, pool or water aerobics, healthy eating, and nutrition, and much more.

During Men’s Health Week in June (13-19, 2022), those recognizing men’s health are encouraged to wear blue. We encourage all our associates and residents to support men’s health not just now, but throughout the year!

Celebrating Summer with Grace!

Whether it’s the simple joy of sipping lemonade while rocking in a comfortable chair outside on the front porch or staying cool poolside, our communities find some great ways to enjoy the summertime!

Our communities across the country enjoy every season, but summer is a seasonal favorite. With visits to local and regional outdoor recreational spaces and destinations to sun and fun in our own backyard, there is truly something for everyone!

In June, the farmer’s markets provide fresh fruits and vegetables that we bring right to our tables, with many communities providing a one-stop-shop Farmer’s Market stand stocked with seasonal produce ripe and ready for the choosing. Many of our communities have their own gardens and benefit from growing and enjoying their own fruits and vegetables.

In July, we wipe the watermelon juice away to enjoy ice cold beverages on our beautiful patios and porches, where Happy Hour is a bright spot and music, and entertainment are sure to get your toes tapping. Often, residents and associates enjoy ice cream and similar cold treats from visiting ice cream trucks.

In August, you can find many communities putting around on putting greens on-site or nearby, fishing and playing fun lawn and patio games with friends and loved ones. For our communities with pools, taking a dip in the summer heat cannot be beat.

We’re ready for sunshine, celebrations, and enjoying time spent together this summer. Come join us and find out how amazing summer can be when you share it with friends and explore new hobbies. Partnering with Experts to Elevate the Senior Living Experience

As we continue to navigate through the challenges of a global pandemic together, Grace Management, Inc. is not only providing innovative, industry-leading precautionary measures within our communities, but is also partnering with experts in health and wellness to share their knowledge and expertise.

We’ve partnered with Medical Advisor, Dr. Kevin W. O’Neil, MD, FACP, CMD, providing support and guidance as well as partnered with Dr. Regina Benjamin, MD, MBA, to help educate and support our associates related to COVID-19 and the importance of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Dr. Kevin O’Neil has graciously provided a series of videos with updates about the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of vaccination and mitigation strategies, resilience, optimal aging, meeting challenges, using humor, and more. O’Neil has been a great resource during internal communications as well as a great voice of expertise to the public.

Dr. O’Neil is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both internal medicine and geriatric medicine. He is the Chief Medical Officer for Affinity Living Group and a Clinical Professor in the Department of Aging Studies at the University of South Florida.

Dr. Regina Benjamin has been a valuable resource in providing experience and expertise regarding health and wellness in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Benjamin was the 18th United States Surgeon General from 2009 to 2013. As America’s Doctor, she has provided the public with the best scientific information available on how to improve their health and the health of the nation.

All Grace Management, Inc. associates benefitted from the exclusive opportunity to participate in an open discussion with Dr. Benjamin. Dr. Benjamin who addressed questions from associates and shared her knowledge and expertise regarding COVID-19, including the importance of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Dr. Benjamin’s breadth of knowledge is a great resource in providing associates of Grace Management, Inc. communities with important information in support of our people-centered mission.

The Pawsitivity of Pets

Pets are an important part of the family. And at our communities that is no different.

As pet-friendly communities we welcome you and your furry family member to make your home with us.

Pets provide comfort, companionship, reduce stress, help you meet new friends, can help you stay active, and have a positive influence on our health.

Our feline or canine companions can also provide structure to our days and meaningful interactions alone or with others who share the same love for them.

Pets promote involvement and a focus off ourselves, and having a pet while at our communities gives us the chance to enjoy lives in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere.

Pets can provide social support to their owners and if owning a pet is not desired, many of our communities have residential pets shared and cared for by a community or pet therapy services that visit regularly for cuddles, pets, and meaningful interaction.
